On January 15, 2010 Vagner Love was announced as Flamengoīs main recruit for the season. The Top Scorer of Love was touched to wear his favorite clubīs jersey and promised to "give his life" to help Rubro Negro to conquer the Rio de Janeiro Championship and Libertadores Cup titles.
Love assumed the number 9 jersey and the teamīs scorer position. The striker was the top scorer of the Rio de Janeiro Championship, with 15 goals .
The desired titles didnīt come true, but not due to the lack of goals of the number 9. Vagner Love reached the average of 0.79 goal/game, with 23 goals in 29 matches.
As Flamengo and CSKA didnīt reach agreement, the striker returned to Russia in August 2010.
